may I introduce Maki Macoco
we got this sweet girl from animal haven in soho last saturday. Many thanks to Tracy who helped us make the difficult decision of just which adorable cat to bring home. I’m convinced little Macoco (formerly Nikki) is the absolute best cat in the whole world. Thanks also to Krzysztof for letting us have her, and Hannah for the positive recommendation and general advice.
As you can see Maki especially likes climbing onto and riding around on our shoulders. She’s very affectionate and just the sweetest soul you’re likely to meet. Not pictured is her striped tail that is usually stuck straight up in the air as she ambles around the apartment. For all these reasons, and because we are such william s. burroughs fans, we decided against kim pine be mine, mamimi, yui, or djuna (because she likes to stretch and contort herself like a dancer) as names. Maki Macoco means ring-tailed lemur in madagascar’s native language. Check out burroughs’ Ghost of Chance if you haven’t already to discover why the word lemur means ghost in malangasy (and in latin).
